Creative Personal Statement

The things that make me as an artist. My interests in art and nature has always been what i like since i was a child. I had always been loving drawing and always wanting to experiment new things all the time when things come up in my mind.

My passion always been painting and drawing flower, leaf and anything that has to do with nature theme. Even tho there may be a hard time when i couldn't come up with anything but in the end i pull it off and go through it.

First year doing art and design in college, We having to learn many different things to get the basic knowledge of art and design but one thing that catch my attention soon as i start working on them is Batik and Printing. They're simple yet can be very effected depending what you put on them and ever since i always wanting to do batik and printing. I been studying more about them and learn how to improve my skills using both techniques so I can move forward with them in the future. The 2nd year in art and design i'm still studying about batik and printing, turning them into my final piece again.

Experimenting with material and techniques is also one of my favorite thing to do as an artist. Because everyone wanting their work to come out for the best, including myself as well. Experimenting just mean that i can do new things and get many different result from it and that's what i'm enjoy doing the most, beside batik and screen print. Because i finds it interesting to finds out what would the final outcome would be and how can i improve next time i having to experiment something like this again. Which sometime i finds it challenge but i still wanting to keep working on them until i reach my limit.

The reason why i'm doing so much about pattern and nature theme, is because nature is everywhere around us. There's tree, flower, sky, animals, leaf and so on. I do wanting to be able to do every single things about nature but that might be too much for me so I'm usually focusing on leaf, tree, flower and so on, because i think that's what's more common but can be the most effected out of all as well.

Patterns just making it looks interesting and beautiful when mix with nature theme. I really love doing them and even though some may take longer to finish but the final outcome always making me fall in love with patterns and nature again. Just one leaf can turn int amazing art piece if you put yourself into and work hard on it as well.

Every Artist had dream to keep them moving forward and so am I. I wanting to become an textile designer or art teacher. Reason is because I always wanting to teach kids what i have done, giving them knowledge and understanding about art. For textile designer is just something that i love doing since studying in college so I wanting to move forward with it in the future. Wanting to see my work being sell and loving by other people.

FMP Evaluation

Start ing off on this project, we had to do a big mind-map together about structures, talking about the different types of structures and what can be used. In the end, I decided that my choice would be about nature and landscapes because I’ve always been enjoying them the most. I put up a project proposal, talking about what I wanted to do, how I was going to do them and how my final design was going to be like.

The theme of choice for me was Nature and Landscapes since I’ve always enjoyed working with them. Nature has the potential to turn into beautiful patterns and using those patterns you can create wonderful piece of art from them, hence my choice for a Nature theme. Landscapes came as my second option just to be on the safe side, I did have my doubts about doing a Nature theme and I like to be prepared and have a backup plan if something goes wrong with my work.

Since I didn't have a chance to visit an art gallery, I’ve decided to take photos around where I live and mix it with some beautiful pictures I got during my holiday. I had lots of photos to work with, I used the photos which I thought had great potential to work with my chosen theme. The rest of the pictures that didn’t really have much to do with my theme were used to get inspiration from them just to make some used out of them.

For the secondary research, I used books from the college to gather information about numerous artists and pattern designs. I also, made use of the internet by using Pinterest, Google Images and BBC to gather images of nature like trees, plants, flowers, leafs, etc…

After doing all of the research mentioned previously, I found myself not making much use out of the research I did. I just felt like I needed to express my art work with my own thoughts and ideas, I started experimenting on several different material and techniques and slowly, started to develop my work from the results of my experimentations. I am not really fond into doing something quite normal, I really love to think “out of the box” I do not want to bound myself to what other people are doing, I prefer working in my own unique way.

I'm using quite a lots of patterns, colours and textures on my theme because I'm working on textiles and fine art, I wanted to make sure I would be able to include most printing styles, all materials that I can find and use many different colours to find out what would be the best to use for my final piece.

Usually, I find myself being stuck at the start of a new project. I always have difficulties starting and working with a new concept or idea. However, once I get something started, ideas start flowing into my head and I find myself working in a very fast pace. I just have to get used to starting off with new ideas so I can handle myself later on in the future. I know in the future I will find myself struggling when starting new projects, but giving to me this task helped me improve my own skills and hopefully, I will be able to look forward to starting new projects on my own without any hesitations.

I have used printing lino, screen print, painting, drawing, colouring, rubbing, batik and other stuffs in textile but the things that I was mostly interested in were printing and batik since I wanted my final piece to be based on those techniques.

At the start of the project, I didn't really know what I wanted to do even though I already had an idea on my mind but, I couldn’t really describe it or express it into words on a piece of paper. I decided to just do artists research and it was taking a really long time to complete since I wasn't so sure on how to start. However, during the 5th week into this project, I decided to ask my friends for help with providing me with an idea of what I should be focusing on and what to work with. Ultimately, I ended up with the idea of working on printing and batik based on leaf textures and patterns

I do have some planning on how I should start and finish my FMP but, I did not manage to do them because of the time constraints on my final piece. At the end, I had to rush myself to get things completed on time which ultimately ruined my initial plan.

After finally realizing what I wanted to work with, I poured all of what little time I had left and effort to experiment with different materials, developing my ideas and come up with the final piece. I wasn't able to manage my time very well when I started but I was able to achieve most of the things that I had planned for with what little time I had left to make the most of what I loved working with the most. Even when I was falling behind schedule I managed to complete my work within the time frame provided. I didn't really use recording blog or smart target to help me keep track of what needed to be done because, I felt like I wouldn’t be able to enjoy myself while working on my project if I had to keep track of every single thing I was doing, I just went with how I felt and started working passionately with what I loved. All things considered, I really do feel like I have to work on my time management skills, because of my horrible time management abilities I almost ruined the whole project on myself.

The things I enjoyed working with the most were: textiles, batik and screen printing. The reason behind that is because I’ve always loved doing textiles and they are one of the best things that I’ve liked working on. I do like other workshops as well, but textile would be on the top spot. Doing more textile work encourages me to work harder and learn more about textile themed projects.

I do think that I have realized and achieved what I’ve really wanted to do on my project. I’ve made beautiful art and textile and added them into my sketchbook and worked out my final piece even though I was struggling with the time limit provided. Personally, I think I could have done a better job with the final piece, but due to the lack of time I couldn’t really deliver something that I am 100% satisfied off. Overall, it turned out okay.

I didn't prepare anything for my presentation because I'm planning to talk about what I did from the start of the project and how things turned out at the end of it.

Final Major Project Week 9

In the 9th week, this is when the time become very important and i have to spend it all doing my final project on the last day. However i pulls it off and actually complete my final project without 3 hours, the rest of the time was spend on the exam that i had to do.

Final Major Project Week 8

During the week 8th, i wanting to start working on my final project and go toward it so i make quick design sheet without much detail to help guide me what i think it would look the best.

And after all of this, i pick what is more suitable to do and what need to be completed.

Final Major Project Week 7

During the week 7th, i decided to try something new like using farbic and rubs the leaf against it with different material such as paint, oil pastel, pen, pencil and ink.

Things seem to be going well and i think some do surprised me because i didnt expect it to come out with so much details. more detail than paper.

Final Major Project Week 6

During the 6th week, im starting to have a base ideas of what i wanting to do for my final piece so i decided to go in workshop and do some printing and batik on my rubbing leaf sheet that create.

I care many different type of background like oil pastel, paint, watercolour, chalk and others to see if any background would make any different. I'm also using different material like tracing paper etcs.

Final Major Project Week 5

In the 5th week, im looking more into what i should be experimenting, trying to develop my skills and learning more about printing, screen print, batik, lino and others. I'm trying to get many different kind of printing because this is what i'm interest of doing for my final piece.
